The semi-submersible barge "SHAHED" still is connected to the platform.
With the assistance of 3 tug boats the barge was kept in position close to the platform and prepared for the move. Submersible hydraulic pumps were rigged in each of the three legs and lowered as tanks were pumped dry.
When ballast tanks were emptied to the stage the barge could refloat, tugs released their pre-rigged bow mooring system and commenced towing. Pumping continued and the barge moved away from the platform, under slow pull and assisted by the current.
The salvage team which was supervised by JtH marine consultancy consisted of a dive team of DULAM International from Dubai together with Naval architects of Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam and Pump engineers of FRAMO - Frank Mohn Rotterdam based.
